Droṇa–Dhṛṣṭadyumna-yuddha (द्रोण-धृष्टद्युम्न-युद्धम्) — Tactical duel and allied interventions
tatra devarṣayaḥ siddhāś cāraṇāś ca samāgatāḥ | praiṣkṣanta tad raṇaṃ ghoraṃ devāsura-samaṃ bhuvi ||
Sañjaya said: There, the divine seers, the Siddhas, and the Cāraṇas assembled and beheld upon the earth that dreadful battle—terrible like the ancient war between gods and demons.
संजय उवाच
The verse underscores that the Kurukṣetra war is not merely a political struggle but a dharmic and cosmic event: even higher beings witness it, implying that human actions in war carry moral weight and reverberate beyond immediate worldly outcomes.
Sañjaya describes celestial beings—Devarṣis, Siddhas, and Cāraṇas—gathering to watch the battle on earth, which appears as terrifying as the mythic देवासुर-संग्राम (war of gods and demons).
