True nobility in leadership is shown through compassion joined with discernment: fulfilling one’s duty in a time-appropriate way (prāptakāla) while maintaining goodwill and kindness, especially toward one’s own relatives.
Sañjaya reports that the assembled kings, in the war setting, begin discussing and praising the Pāṇḍava’s character—his cordiality, mercy, timely sense of duty, and exceptional compassion toward family and kin.
