Thus, within the Mahābhārata—specifically in the Bhīṣma Parvan, in the section known as the Bhagavad Gītā—this concludes the Upaniṣadic teaching on Brahma-knowledge, the discipline of Yoga, presented as the dialogue between Śrī Kṛṣṇa and Arjuna: the twelfth chapter, called “The Yoga of Devotion.” In the Bhīṣma Parvan, this corresponds to the thirty-sixth chapter.
अजुन उवाच
This line is a colophon (closing formula), not a doctrinal verse. It frames the preceding discourse as an Upaniṣadic-style teaching on brahma-knowledge and yoga, and it names the completed unit as the twelfth Gītā chapter, “Bhakti-yoga,” emphasizing devotion as a legitimate and central yogic discipline within dharma.
The text signals the end of the chapter on devotion within the Kṛṣṇa–Arjuna dialogue, situated on the battlefield narrative of the Bhīṣma Parvan. It also notes the internal chapter count within the larger parvan, functioning as an editorial marker for recitation and transmission.
