Karma-Yoga, Jñāna-Yajña, and Avatāra Instruction
तस्माद् यस्य महाबाहो निगृहीतानि सर्वश: । इन्द्रियाणीन्द्रियार्थेभ्यस्तस्य प्रज्ञा प्रतिष्ठिता
tasmād yasya mahābāho nigṛhītāni sarvaśaḥ | indriyāṇīndriyārthebhyas tasya prajñā pratiṣṭhitā ||
Therefore, O mighty-armed one, that person whose senses are restrained in every way from their sense-objects—his understanding is firmly established.
अजुन उवाच
Steady wisdom (prajñā) is recognized by mastery over the senses: when the senses are fully restrained from chasing their objects, the mind becomes stable and discernment remains clear, enabling dharmic action.
In the Bhīṣma Parva dialogue on the battlefield context, the speaker addresses Arjuna as “mighty-armed” and states a criterion for true steadiness of understanding: complete restraint of the senses from their objects.
