Arjuna said: But the disciplined seeker—whose inner self is under control—moves among sense-objects with senses freed from attachment and aversion and brought under mastery; by such regulated engagement, he attains serenity and inner clarity.
अजुन उवाच
Ethical freedom comes not from fleeing experience but from engaging with it through self-mastered senses—free of attachment (rāga) and aversion (dveṣa). Such regulated living yields prasāda: inner serenity and clarity, the basis for steady wisdom.
In the dialogue on the battlefield, Arjuna asks about the conduct of the steady-minded person. This verse begins the answer by describing how a disciplined practitioner moves among sense-objects without being driven by likes and dislikes, thereby gaining inner calm.
