Arjuna said: “O Keśava, what is the defining description of one whose wisdom is steady—of the person established in deep contemplation? How does such a steady-minded one speak? How does he sit? How does he move about?”
अजुन उवाच
Arjuna asks for observable marks of inner realization: the outward conduct—speech, posture, and movement—of a person whose mind is steady in samādhi. The verse frames spiritual maturity as something reflected in ethical comportment and disciplined behavior, not merely in claims or theory.
On the battlefield, after hearing that firm establishment of intellect leads to the highest attainment, Arjuna seeks clarity. He asks Kṛṣṇa (Keśava) to describe the characteristics and daily conduct of the ‘sthitaprajña’—the perfected, steady-minded practitioner—so that such steadiness can be understood and emulated.
