Sanjaya said: When your understanding has fully crossed beyond the mire of delusion, then you will arrive at dispassion toward both what has been heard and what remains to be heard—toward all promised enjoyments and doctrines of this world and the next.

When the intellect becomes free from delusion, a natural detachment arises toward all pleasure-centered promises—whether already known from tradition or newly encountered. This dispassion is a sign of inner clarity and readiness for liberation-oriented living.
In the Gita’s battlefield dialogue, Sanjaya reports the teaching addressed to Arjuna: as Arjuna’s understanding matures beyond confusion, he will no longer be driven by worldly or otherworldly rewards and will develop steady dispassion.
