Chapter 19: Prativyūha of the Pāṇḍavas — Vajra (Acala) Formation and Dawn Omens
एतद् वचनमाज्ञाय महर्षेव्यूह पाण्डव । एतच्छुत्वा धर्मराजं प्रत्यभाषत पाण्डव:,'पाण्डुनन्दन! महर्षिके इस कथनपर विचार करके तुम भी अपनी सेनाका व्यूह बनाओ।' धर्मराजकी यह बात सुनकर पाण्डुपुत्र अर्जुनने उन्हें इस प्रकार उत्तर दिया --
etad vacanam ājñāya maharṣer vyūha pāṇḍava | etac chrutvā dharmarājaṁ pratyabhāṣata pāṇḍavaḥ || pāṇḍunandana! maharṣike asya kathanopari vicāra kṛtvā tvam api svasyāḥ senāyāḥ vyūhaṁ kuru | dharmarājasya etāṁ vācam śrutvā pāṇḍuputro 'rjunaḥ tān evaṁ pratyuvāca ||
Sañjaya said: Having understood the great seer’s instruction on arranging the battle-formation, the Pāṇḍava—Dharmarāja (Yudhiṣṭhira)—spoke: “O son of Pāṇḍu! Reflect on what the sage has said, and you too array the formation of your army.” Hearing these words of Dharmarāja, Arjuna, Pāṇḍu’s son, replied in this manner—.
संजय उवाच
Even in war, action should be guided by disciplined reflection and rightful leadership: Dharmarāja urges Arjuna to consider wise counsel and then act responsibly by arranging the army’s formation.
Sañjaya narrates that after grasping a sage’s guidance about military arrays, Yudhiṣṭhira tells Arjuna to think it through and organize the Pāṇḍava forces; Arjuna then begins his reply.
