Chapter 19: Prativyūha of the Pāṇḍavas — Vajra (Acala) Formation and Dawn Omens
sañjaya uvāca | bhīmaseno gadāṃ bhīmāṃ prakarṣan pari ghopamām | pracakārṣa mahāsainyaṃ durādharṣo mahāmanāḥ ||
Sañjaya said: Mighty Bhīmasena, drawing along his terrible mace—thick and formidable like an iron club—pressed forward, dragging with him a vast host. Great-souled and hard to assail, he advanced as an unconquerable force in the righteous but devastating work of war.
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights the Kshatriya ideal of steadfast courage and irresistible resolve in battle: a warrior, when duty demands, advances without wavering, bearing the weight of his forces and the consequences of war.
Sanjaya describes Bhima moving forward in the Kurukshetra battle, wielding a fearsome mace like a heavy iron club, and driving on with a large contingent—portrayed as nearly unassailable due to his strength and spirit.
