नैतच्चित्रं महाबाहो त्वयि कौरवनन्दन
naitac citraṃ mahābāho tvayi kauravanandana
Sañjaya said: “This is not at all surprising, O mighty-armed one, O glory of the Kuru line—such conduct and resolve are wholly in keeping with your nature and your station.”
संजय उवाच
The line conveys that truly dharmic or heroic action is not “surprising” when it arises from a person whose character, lineage, and duty (especially a kṣatriya’s) naturally support such conduct; virtue is shown as consistency with one’s rightful role.
Sañjaya addresses a Kuru prince with respectful epithets, reassuring him that what has occurred (implied by the surrounding context) is not unexpected in someone like him—framing the event as fitting and appropriate rather than astonishing.
