Sañjaya said: Yet those arrows—golden-winged and whetted upon stone—could not produce any wound or pain in Bhīṣma’s body. The narration underscores the extraordinary steadfastness and divinely protected resolve of Bhīṣma amid the violence of war, where mere martial excellence is shown to be insufficient against a life anchored in vow, dharma, and destined time.

The verse highlights that external force and refined weaponry do not necessarily prevail over one established in dharma, vow, and destined time; moral-spiritual stature and providential order can render mere technique ineffective.
Sañjaya reports that even though the arrows (described as golden-fletched and stone-sharpened) were expertly made and shot, they failed to cause Bhīṣma any wound or pain, emphasizing his exceptional resilience on the battlefield.
