Sañjaya said: In that battle, warriors bearing mighty weapons rushed toward Bhīṣma. Draupadī’s five sons, and Abhimanyu as well—each armed with great missiles and weapons—ran across the field straight at Bhīṣma. All of them were firm of bow, and in combats they were not men to turn back.

The verse foregrounds kṣatriya-dharma: steadfastness under peril and refusal to abandon one’s duty in battle. It also highlights the ethical tension of the war—youthful heroes, driven by loyalty and obligation, confront the revered elder Bhīṣma, showing how dharma can demand painful action against respected kin.
Sañjaya reports that Draupadī’s five sons and Abhimanyu, armed and resolute, charge across the battlefield directly toward Bhīṣma. The emphasis is on their readiness, strong archery, and unwavering courage in the thick of combat.
