तस्य कीर्तिमतस्तात पुरा रामेण धीमता

Transliteration

tasya kīrtimatas tāta purā rāmeṇa dhīmatā |

Translation

Sañjaya said: “O dear one, relying on the weapon-training once bestowed in former times by the wise Rāma (Paraśurāma) upon the renowned Bhīṣma—training that can destroy hostile armies—Bhīṣma, the aged grandsire of the Kuru line, slayer of enemy heroes, continued day after day to cut down ten thousand foremost warriors of the opposing (Pāṇḍava) host.”
