धृष्टकेतुं तु समरे माद्रीपुत्र: प्रतापवान् | अपोवाह रणे क्रुद्ध: सहदेव: पराक्रमी,इसी प्रकार प्रतापी एवं पराक्रमी माद्रीकुमार सहदेव कुपित हो धृष्टकेतुको अपने रथपर चढ़ाकर समरभूमिसे बाहर हटा ले गये
dhṛṣṭaketuṃ tu samare mādrīputraḥ pratāpavān | apovāha raṇe kruddhaḥ sahadevaḥ parākramī ||
Sañjaya said: In the thick of battle, the valiant son of Mādrī—Sahadeva, mighty in prowess—grew wrathful and, taking Dhṛṣṭaketu up onto his chariot, carried him away from the battlefield.
संजय उवाच
Even amid righteous warfare, a kṣatriya’s duty includes safeguarding comrades; courage is shown not only in striking the enemy but also in timely protection and removal of an ally from peril.
During the battle, Sahadeva (called the son of Mādrī) becomes enraged and removes Dhṛṣṭaketu from the fighting by placing him on his chariot and taking him away from the battlefield.
