भीष्मपर्व — अध्याय ११०: पार्थभीमयोः प्रहारः तथा भीष्माभिमुखं संग्रामविस्तारः
Arjuna and Bhima’s pressure; escalation toward Bhishma
सेन्द्रानपि रणे देवाञ्जयेयं जयतां वर । त्वया नाथेन गोविन्द किमु भीष्म॑ महारथम्
yudhiṣṭhira uvāca | sendrān api raṇe devān jayeyam jayatāṃ vara | tvayā nāthena govinda kimu bhīṣmaṃ mahāratham ||
Yudhiṣṭhira said: “O best among victors! With you, Govinda, as my protector, I could conquer even the gods in battle, Indra included. How then could victory over Bhīṣma, though a great chariot-warrior, be any great matter?”
युधिछिर उवाच
The verse emphasizes reliance on a righteous protector—here Govinda (Kṛṣṇa)—as a source of courage and moral strength: with divine guidance and refuge, even seemingly impossible obstacles appear surmountable.
Yudhiṣṭhira addresses Kṛṣṇa, expressing confidence that with Kṛṣṇa as his guardian he could defeat even Indra and the gods; therefore defeating Bhīṣma, though a formidable mahāratha, should not be considered difficult.
