भीष्मपर्व — अध्याय ११०: पार्थभीमयोः प्रहारः तथा भीष्माभिमुखं संग्रामविस्तारः

एष चापि नरव्याप्रो मत्कृते जीवितं त्यजेत् । एष न: समयस्तात तारयेम परस्परम्
eṣa cāpi naravyāpro matkṛte jīvitaṃ tyajet | eṣa naḥ samayas tāta tārayema parasparam ||
Sañjaya said: “This man, ever energetic in manly effort, would even give up his life for my sake. Dear one, this is our pledged compact: that we should rescue one another from peril.”
