Adhyāya 108 — Nimitta-darśana and Drona’s counsel amid Arjuna’s advance (निमित्तदर्शनं द्रोणोपदेशश्च)
तदापतद् वै सहसा शल्यस्य सुमहद् बलम्,उस समय सहसा अपनी ओर आती हुई राजा शल्यकी उस विशाल वाहिनी तथा स्वयं मद्रराजको भी पाण्डुपुत्र महारथी धर्मराज युधिष्ठिरने महान् जल-प्रवाहके समान समरभूमिमें रोक दिया
tadāpatad vai sahasā śalyasya sumahad balam |
Sañjaya said: At that moment, the mighty host of King Śalya, rushing forward all at once, was checked on the battlefield by Dharmarāja Yudhiṣṭhira, the Pāṇḍava great chariot-warrior, who held it back like the surge of a vast flood.
संजय उवाच
Even in war, righteous leadership is shown through steadiness and restraint: Yudhiṣṭhira meets a sudden, overwhelming assault by holding firm, suggesting that dharma includes composure, protection of order, and disciplined use of strength.
Śalya’s immense force charges forward suddenly; Sañjaya reports that Yudhiṣṭhira, the Pāṇḍava maharatha, checks and halts that onrush on the battlefield, likened to stopping a powerful flood.
