Adhyāya 108 — Nimitta-darśana and Drona’s counsel amid Arjuna’s advance (निमित्तदर्शनं द्रोणोपदेशश्च)

त्वं हि संश्रूयसे5त्यर्थमसह्यबलविक्रम: । “महाबाहो! ये ज्येष्ठ पाण्डुपुत्र युधिष्ठिर नकुल और सहदेवको साथ लेकर रणभूमिमें आपलोगोंके देखते-देखते मेरी सेनाको खदेड़ रहे हैं। प्रभो! महाबाहो! जैसे तटप्रान्त समुद्रको आगे बढ़नेसे रोकता है

sañjaya uvāca | tvaṃ hi saṃśrūyase 'tyartham asahyabala-vikramaḥ | mahābāho! ye jyeṣṭha-pāṇḍuputraṃ yudhiṣṭhiraṃ nakulaṃ ca sahadevaṃ ca sārdhaṃ nītvā raṇabhūmau yuṣmākaṃ paśyatāṃ paśyatāṃ mama senāṃ khādayanti (khādayanti/khādayanti iti pāṭhāntara-sambhavaḥ) | prabho! mahābāho! yathā taṭaprāntaḥ samudraṃ pravardhamānaṃ nivārayati, tathā tvam api yudhiṣṭhiraṃ pravardhamānaṃ nivāraya; yataḥ tava balaṃ vikramaś ca atyantaṃ asahya iti śrūyate ||

Sañjaya said: “You are renowned as one whose strength and valor are utterly irresistible. Mighty-armed one! The eldest son of Pandu—Yudhishthira—together with Nakula and Sahadeva, is driving my army back on the battlefield before your very eyes. Lord, mighty-armed one! Just as a shoreline holds back the advancing sea, so you must check Yudhishthira’s advance; for your power and prowess are heard to be beyond endurance.”
