Adhyāya 108 — Nimitta-darśana and Drona’s counsel amid Arjuna’s advance (निमित्तदर्शनं द्रोणोपदेशश्च)
ततो दुर्योधनो राजा शूराणां हयसादिनाम् । अयुतं प्रेषयामास पाण्डवानां निवारणे,तदनन्तर राजा दुर्योधनने पाण्डवोंकी प्रगतिको रोकने-के लिये दस हजार घुड़सवार सैनिक और भेजे
tato duryodhano rājā śūrāṇāṁ hayasādinām | ayutaṁ preṣayāmāsa pāṇḍavānāṁ nivāraṇe ||
Then King Duryodhana dispatched a force of ten thousand valiant cavalrymen to check the advance of the Pāṇḍavas.
संजय उवाच

Sañjaya reports that Duryodhana orders a detachment of ten thousand cavalry to be sent out specifically to block or restrain the Pāṇḍavas’ advance in the ongoing battle situation.
