Daśame’hani Bhīṣma-yuddham — Śikhaṇḍī-rakṣaṇa, Arjuna-prabhāva, Duryodhana-āśraya-vākyam
रणे भारत पार्थेन द्रोणो विद्धस्त्रिभि: शरै: | नाचिन्तयच्च तान् बाणान् पार्थचापच्युतान् युधि
raṇe bhārata pārthena droṇo viddhas tribhiḥ śaraiḥ | nācintayac ca tān bāṇān pārthacāpacyutān yudhi, bhārata |
Sañjaya said: “O Bhārata, in the battle Droṇa was struck by Pārtha with three arrows; yet on the field of war he gave no heed at all to those shafts released from Arjuna’s bow—so unshaken was his resolve amid the clash of arms.”
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights steadiness in the face of pain and pressure: a seasoned warrior (Droṇa) remains mentally unshaken even when wounded, illustrating disciplined focus and endurance expected in kṣatriya conduct during war.
Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that Arjuna (Pārtha) strikes Droṇa with three arrows in the battle, but Droṇa does not pay them any attention on the battlefield, continuing his fight without being disturbed.
