Sañjaya said: Having advanced up to King Yudhiṣṭhira, he surrounded him on all sides. In the press of battle, Bhīṣma—together with the soldiers and in concert with your sons—closed in around Yudhiṣṭhira, seeking to hem him in and overpower him.

The verse highlights how dharma is tested amid conflict: even the most righteous leader can be placed under extreme tactical pressure, and ethical resolve must be maintained while facing coordinated force and intimidation.
Sañjaya reports that Bhīṣma, supported by the Kaurava forces and aligned with Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s sons, advances to Yudhiṣṭhira and surrounds him from all sides as a battlefield maneuver to isolate and subdue him.
