Adhyāya 104 — Śikhaṇḍin-puraskāraḥ (Śikhaṇḍin as Vanguard) and Bhīṣma’s Counter-Advance
पुष्पितै: किंशुकै राजन् संस्तीर्ण इव पर्वत: । वे बाण राक्षसके शरीरको विदीर्ण करके उसके मर्मस्थानोंमें धँस गये। राजन्! उन बाणोंसे सम्पूर्ण अंगोंके क्षत-विक्षत हो जानेपर राक्षसराज अलम्बुष खिले हुए पलाशके वृक्षोंसे आच्छादित पर्वतकी भाँति सुशोभित होने लगा
Sañjaya said: O king, those arrows tore through the rākṣasa’s body and sank into his vital points. And when the rākṣasa-king Alambuṣa had all his limbs mangled and rent by those shafts, he appeared like a mountain strewn with blossoming palāśa (kiṃśuka) trees, terrible yet splendid to behold.
