भीष्मवधोपाय-प्रश्नः (Inquiry into the means to overcome Bhīṣma) | Chapter 103
द्रावयित्वा महासैन्यं कम्पयित्वा महारथान् । नन्दयामास सुहृदो मयं जित्वेव वासव:,मयासुरपर विजय पानेवाले इन्द्रकी भाँति अभिमन्युने उस विशाल सेनाको भगाकर, महारथियोंको कँपाकर अपने सुहृदोंको आनन्दित किया
sañjaya uvāca |
drāvayitvā mahāsainyaṃ kampayitvā mahārathān |
nandayāmāsa suhṛdo mayaṃ jitveva vāsavaḥ ||
Sañjaya said: Having routed the vast host and made the great chariot-warriors tremble, Abhimanyu gladdened his well-wishers—like Indra (Vāsava) after conquering the demon Maya.
संजय उवाच
The verse underscores the dharmic role of a warrior: decisive courage that protects one’s side and strengthens allies. Ethical emphasis lies in valor serving duty and collective resolve, not mere personal glory.
Sañjaya reports that Abhimanyu breaks the enemy’s momentum—scattering the large force and unnerving elite fighters—thereby heartening his own supporters, compared to Indra’s triumph over the Asura Maya.
