उक्त न प्रतिजग्राह मानान्मोहवशं गत: । तत्त्वदर्श ऋषियोंके कहे हुए इस वचनको इन्द्रने अभिमानवश नहीं स्वीकार किया। वे मोहके वशीभूत हो गये थे

uktaṃ na pratijagrāha mānān mohavaśaṃ gataḥ |

Vaiśaṃpāyana said: Overcome by delusion and driven by pride, Indra did not accept the words spoken by the seers who beheld the truth. Thus arrogance eclipsed discernment, and he rejected wise counsel.
