Vaiśaṃpāyana said: Then, rushing forward with the aim of seizing him, the warriors of Dhṛtavarman surrounded Guḍākeśa (Arjuna). Seeing himself hemmed in on all sides, Dhanañjaya was inflamed with anger.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights kṣatriya-dharma in action: when a protector is threatened and a duty-bound mission is obstructed, decisive force may arise as righteous anger—not mere personal rage, but a response aimed at safeguarding responsibility and restoring order in battle.
Dhṛtavarman’s side rushes in with the intent to seize Arjuna and surrounds him from all directions. Arjuna (Guḍākeśa/Dhanañjaya), seeing the encirclement, becomes intensely angry and prepares to respond.
