Vajradatta Confronts Dhanaṃjaya at Prāgjyotiṣa
ततो हलहलाशब्दो दिवस्पृणभवत् तदा । नानाविधानां भूतानां तत्कर्माणि प्रशंसताम्,फिर तो अर्जुनके उस पराक्रमकी प्रशंसा करते हुए नाना प्रकारके प्राणियोंका कोलाहल समूचे आकाशकमें व्याप्त हो गया
tato halahalāśabdo divaspṛṇ abhavat tadā | nānāvidhānāṃ bhūtānāṃ tatkarmāṇi praśaṃsatām ||
Then, at that moment, a great clamour—cries of “halahalā”—rose up and seemed to fill the very heavens, as beings of many kinds praised that deed.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights how a deed aligned with dharma—courage used for a rightful purpose—naturally earns widespread praise. Ethical force (valour with restraint and right intent) is distinguished from mere aggression by the kind of acclaim it generates.
Vaiśaṃpāyana describes a moment when many kinds of beings raise a loud, sky-filling clamour while praising the feat just performed—understood in context as Arjuna’s celebrated act of prowess.
