Ethics of Non-attachment

Vāyu said: “He who is endowed with such disciplined conduct is called the best of sages. Even if others in society show disrespect for the work he undertakes, he should calmly continue to do what is right; yet he must never revile the dharma of the virtuous. One who is perfected in such behavior is truly the foremost muni.”

True excellence in a sage lies in steady, disciplined conduct: remain calm and continue righteous action even when society disrespects it, and never disparage the dharma upheld by virtuous people.
Vāyudeva is instructing about the marks of a superior muni, defining spiritual greatness not by status or praise but by unwavering ethical behavior and reverence for the dharma of the good.
