Adhyāya 42 — Mahābhūta–Indriya–Adhyātma-Vyavasthā
Brahmā’s Instruction on Elements and Faculties
इत्युक्तानीन्द्रियाण्येतान्येकादश यथाक्रमम् । मन्यन्ते कृतमित्येवं विदित्वा तानि पण्डिता:
ity uktānīndriyāṇy etāny ekādaśa yathākramam | manyante kṛtam ity evaṁ viditvā tāni paṇḍitāḥ ||
Thus, these eleven faculties of sense and action have been set forth in due order. Those who clearly discern their true nature regard themselves as having fulfilled their purpose.
वायुदेव उवाच
Understanding the eleven indriyas in their proper order and true nature is presented as a mark of wisdom; such discernment supports self-mastery and leads one to feel 'kṛta'—that one’s essential aim has been accomplished.
Vāyudeva concludes a structured explanation of the eleven faculties (indriyas), stating that learned people who grasp their reality consider themselves fulfilled by that knowledge.
