अम्बरीषगाथा—गुणत्रयविभागः तथा लोभनिग्रहः
Ambarīṣa’s Gāthā: The Guṇas and the Restraint of Greed

लोभाद्धि जायते तृष्णा ततत्रिन्ता प्रवर्तते । स लिप्यमानो लभते भूयिष्ठं राजसान् गुणान् । तदवाप्तौ तु लभते भूयिष्ठं तमसान् गुणान्
Translation
From greed arises craving (tṛṣṇā), and from craving springs anxious brooding. The man stained by greed first comes to possess in abundance the rājasic qualities (rajas); and when he attains what he seeks, the tāmasic qualities (tamas) increase in him all the more.
