Dehānta (Cyavana) and Upapatti: Kāśyapa’s Questions and the Siddha’s Account of Death, Pain, and Karmic Re-embodiment
ततः शुभाशुभ॑ कृत्वा लभन्ते सर्वदेहिन: । इहैवोच्चावचान् भोगान प्राप्तुवन्ति स्वकर्मभि:,अतः यहाँ शुभ और अशुभ कर्म करके सब मनुष्य उसके फलस्वरूप अपने कर्मोंके अनुसार अच्छे-बुरे भोग प्राप्त करते हैं
tataḥ śubhāśubhaṁ kṛtvā labhante sarvadehinaḥ | ihaivoccāvacān bhogān prāpnuvanti svakarmabhiḥ ||
Therefore, having performed deeds that are good or evil, all embodied beings obtain their results. Here in this very world, in accordance with their own actions, they come to experience pleasures and sufferings of higher and lower kinds.
सिद्ध उवाच
The verse teaches moral causality: good and evil actions inevitably yield corresponding results, and beings experience a range of higher and lower enjoyments and sufferings according to their own deeds.
A Siddha (perfected sage) is instructing the listener on the working of karma, emphasizing that embodied beings reap the fruits of their actions and undergo appropriate experiences in this world in line with what they have done.
