Bhīma’s Harsh Speech Heard by Dhṛtarāṣṭra and Gāndhārī
वैशम्पायन उवाच इत्युक्त: स तु त॑ प्राह व्यासो वेदविदां वर: । युधिष्ठटिरं महातेजा: पुनरेव महाकवि:
Vaiśampāyana uvāca: ity uktaḥ sa tu taṃ prāha Vyāso vedavidāṃ varaḥ | Yudhiṣṭhiraṃ mahātejāḥ punar eva mahākaviḥ ||
Vaiśampāyana said: When this had been spoken, the illustrious Vyāsa—foremost among those who know the Vedas—addressed Yudhiṣṭhira once again. The great poet, radiant with spiritual power, resumed his counsel, guiding the king toward the path of right conduct amid the gravity of the moment.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse frames ethical instruction as coming from a qualified authority: Vyāsa, the foremost knower of the Veda, speaks again to Yudhiṣṭhira. The implied teaching is that dharma in difficult times is clarified through the guidance of realized sages and scriptural wisdom.
Vaiśampāyana narrates a transition: after some prior statement, Vyāsa resumes speaking and addresses Yudhiṣṭhira again. It signals the continuation of counsel or instruction within the Ashramavāsika context.
