Vaiśampāyana said: Then, as night approached, all those who had assembled there—having completed their customary evening observances—went together to Sage Vyāsa. The scene underscores disciplined conduct even amid grief and the aftermath of war: ritual duty and reverence for wisdom become the community’s refuge as they seek guidance and meaning.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Even in times of collective sorrow and moral upheaval after war, one should not abandon dharma: maintaining daily disciplines and seeking counsel from realized sages steadies the mind and guides right action.
As evening turns to night, the assembled people complete their evening observances and then go together to meet Sage Vyāsa, indicating a transition from routine duties to seeking higher guidance for what follows.
