धृतराष्ट्रस्य पाण्डवेषु प्रीति-वृत्तान्तः | Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s Affectionate Disposition toward the Pāṇḍavas
अप्रकाशान्यप्रियाणि चकारास्य वृकोदर: । जआज्ञां प्रत्यहरच्चापि कृतज्ै: पुरुषै: सदा
aprakāśāny apriyāṇi ca cakārāsya vṛkodaraḥ | ājñāṃ pratyaharac cāpi kṛtajñaiḥ puruṣaiḥ sadā ||
Vaiśaṃpāyana said: Bhīma (Vṛkodara) did for him many deeds best left unspoken, bitter to carry out; and he also ensured that the commands were duly fulfilled—always through men who were loyal and mindful of their obligations.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights that fulfilling dharma and rightful authority can involve difficult, unpleasant, and confidential actions; such tasks should be handled with discretion and entrusted to reliable, duty-conscious people.
Vaiśaṃpāyana describes Bhīma acting as an effective executor: he undertakes certain sensitive and disagreeable tasks on someone’s behalf and ensures orders are implemented through loyal, obligation-remembering agents.
