Vaiśampāyana said: Thereafter, on the sacred bank of the Bhāgīrathī—pure and fit for the dwelling of the righteous—the king Dhṛtarāṣṭra, abiding by Vidura’s counsel, made his residence. Then, in that very place, eminent sages came to see the king—Nārada, Parvata, and the great ascetic Devala.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
A ruler burdened by past errors should accept righteous counsel (Vidura), move toward purification (a medhya sacred place), and open himself to guidance from realized sages—signaling that ethical renewal is possible through humility, restraint, and tapas-oriented living.
Dhṛtarāṣṭra, following Vidura’s advice, settles on the holy bank of the Bhāgīrathī. Soon after, renowned sages—Nārada, Parvata, and Devala—arrive to meet him, marking a transition into a more ascetic, spiritually guided phase of his life.
