Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s Śrāddha Request and Bhīma’s Objection (Āśramavāsika-parva, Adhyāya 17)

Vaiśampāyana said: That night became for them a joy-increasing one, like a sacred ‘brāhmī’ night—while eminent brāhmaṇas engaged in Vedic recitation (svādhyāya) and, here and there, the fires of agnihotra were kept blazing.
The verse highlights dharmic restoration through svādhyāya and agnihotra: disciplined learning and daily sacred duty cultivate inner joy (prīti) and sanctify communal life, especially in an āśrama setting.
A peaceful night is described: leading brāhmaṇas are reciting Vedic texts, and agnihotra fires burn in various places. This makes the night feel spiritually charged—‘brāhmī’—and uplifting for those present.
