इत्युक्त्वा तांस्ततो देवा: पुनरेव महीमिमाम्
ity uktvā tāṁs tato devāḥ punar eva mahīm imām
Having spoken thus to them, the gods then once again turned their attention to this very earth—returning to it to carry forward what had been ordained, in keeping with cosmic order and duty.
भीष्म उवाच
The verse underscores that divine action follows spoken resolve and is directed toward restoring or maintaining dharma on earth; speech (decision/command) is followed by purposeful return to worldly responsibility.
Bhīṣma narrates that after addressing certain beings (“them”), the gods proceed again toward the earth, indicating a renewed engagement with earthly affairs as the next step in the story.
