Pitṛ-śrāddha-haviḥ-phala-nirdeśa
Offerings for Ancestors and Their Stated Results
घोरो विरूप: संवर्त: सुधन्वा चाष्टम: स्मृत: । एतेडष्टौ वहल्लिजा: सर्वे ज्ञाननिष्ठा निरामया:
ghoro virūpaḥ saṃvartaḥ sudhanvā cāṣṭamaḥ smṛtaḥ | ete ’ṣṭau vahallijāḥ sarve jñānaniṣṭhā nirāmayāḥ ||
Vasiṣṭha said: “Ghora, Virūpa, Saṃvarta, and the eighth, Sudhanvā—these are remembered among them. These eight, all born in the lineage associated with Agni, are steadfast in spiritual knowledge and free from affliction. Their lives exemplify a disciplined, disease-and-sorrowless state grounded in wisdom rather than worldly striving.”
