Pitṛ-śrāddha-haviḥ-phala-nirdeśa
Offerings for Ancestors and Their Stated Results
एते हि प्रस्रवा: सर्वे प्रजानां पतयस्त्रय: । सर्व संतानमेतेषामिदमित्युपधारय
ete hi prasravāḥ sarve prajānāṁ patayas trayaḥ | sarvaṁ santānam eteṣām idam ity upadhāraya ||
Vasiṣṭha said: “Indeed, all these are the sources of creation—the three lords of beings (Prajāpatis). Understand this well: all the rest are their progeny; this entire world is descended from them.”
वसिष्ठ उवाच
The verse asserts a foundational genealogical principle: three Prajāpatis are presented as primary sources of beings, and all other creatures are understood as their descendants—encouraging the listener to recognize an ordered origin of the world and its lineages.
