Śrāddha-Kalpa: Pitṛ-Pūjā and Tithi-Phala (श्राद्धकल्पः पितृपूजा च तिथिफलम्)
तत: सर्वे समुद्विग्ना देवा रुद्रमुपागमन् । ते महादेवमासीनं देवीं च वरदामुमाम्,“उस समय सब देवता उद्विग्न होकर कैलास-शिखरपर बैठे हुए महान् देवता रुद्र और वरदायिनी देवी उमाके पास गये
tataḥ sarve samudvignā devā rudram upāgaman | te mahādevam āsīnaṃ devīṃ ca varadām umām ||
Then all the gods, shaken with anxiety, approached Rudra. They went to Mahādeva, who was seated, and also to the boon-bestowing Goddess Umā—seeking refuge and resolution in the face of their distress.
भीष्म उवाच
In moments of collective fear and disorder, one should seek guidance from the highest, steady source of wisdom and protection; the verse highlights turning to Mahādeva and Umā as compassionate, boon-giving refuge for restoring balance.
All the gods become alarmed and go to Rudra/Śiva. They approach Mahādeva, who is seated, and also the boon-granting Goddess Umā, indicating a petition for help or counsel to address the cause of their agitation.
