Chapter 85: Suvarṇasya Janma ca Pradāna-Phalam
The Origin of Gold and the Merit of Gifting
न वो<स्ति कुत्सितं किंचिदंगेष्वालक्ष्यतेडनघा: । पुण्या: पवित्रा: सुभगा ममादेशं प्रयच्छथ
na vo 'sti kutsitaṁ kiñcid aṅgeṣv ālakṣyate 'naghāḥ | puṇyāḥ pavitrāḥ subhagā mama ādeśaṁ prayacchatha ||
Bhishma said: “O blameless ones, I perceive nothing base or improper in your persons. You are meritorious, pure, and auspicious; therefore, grant (carry out) my instruction.”
भीष्म उवाच
Moral worth is recognized through purity of conduct and auspicious qualities; those who are blameless and virtuous are fit to receive and carry out righteous instruction.
Bhishma addresses a group respectfully as “blameless,” affirms that he sees no fault in them, praises their purity and merit, and then asks them to comply with or carry out his directive.
