अन्न हि परमं गावो देवानां परमं हवि: । स्वाहाकारवषट्कारीौ गोषु नित्यं प्रतिक्ठिती
Translation
Bhishma said: “Cows are indeed the supreme food, and for the gods they are the highest havis, the sacrificial oblation. The ritual utterances ‘svāhā’ and ‘vaṣaṭ’—the acts of offering in yajña—are ever established upon cows, for they depend upon them.”
