Thus, in the Śrī Mahābhārata, within the Anuśāsana Parva, in the section on the dharma of giving (dāna-dharma), the seventy-fifth chapter comes to an end. This closing formula marks the completion of the chapter in which Bhīṣma’s instruction to Yudhiṣṭhira continues to frame ethical life through the discipline of generosity and righteous conduct.
भीष्म उवाच
This verse is a colophon rather than a doctrinal statement: it signals the completion of a chapter situated in the Dāna-dharma (ethics of giving) discourse, reinforcing that Bhīṣma’s instruction is organized as a sustained ethical teaching on righteous generosity within dharma.
The text formally closes the seventy-fifth chapter of the Dāna-dharma section within the Anuśāsana Parva. It functions as an editorial/narrative marker indicating that the current unit of Bhīṣma’s instruction has ended and the next chapter will begin thereafter.
