Nṛga-upākhyāna: Brāhmaṇa-sva and the Consequence of Misappropriated Gift-Cattle (कृकलास-रूपे नृगोपाख्यानम्)
सद्यो ददाति यश्चान्नं सदैकाग्रमना नर: | न स दुर्गाण्यवाप्रोतीत्येवमाह पराशर:,पराशर मुनिका कथन है कि “जो मनुष्य सदा एकाग्रचित्त होकर याचकको तत्काल अन्नका दान करता है, उसपर कभी दुर्गम संकट नहीं पड़ता”
sadyo dadāti yaścānnaṃ sadaikāgramanā naraḥ | na sa durgāṇy avāpnotīty evam āha parāśaraḥ ||
Bhishma said: Parāśara has declared thus—when a person, with mind steadily focused, gives food at once to one who asks, that giver does not fall into hard-to-cross calamities. The teaching praises prompt, attentive charity of sustenance as a protective dharmic act.
भीष्म उवाच
Promptly giving food to a petitioner, with a focused and sincere mind, is upheld as a powerful form of dharma that prevents the giver from encountering severe hardships.
Bhīṣma, while instructing on dharma, cites the authority of the sage Parāśara to emphasize the merit and protective power of immediate, attentive food-giving.
