अन्न प्राणा नराणां हि सर्वमन्ने प्रतेष्ठितम्‌ । अन्नदः पशुमान्‌ पुत्री धनवान्‌ भोगवानपि

Transliteration

nārada uvāca | annaṃ prāṇā narāṇāṃ hi sarvam anne pratiṣṭhitam | annadaḥ paśumān putrī dhanavān bhogavān api, nareśvara |

Translation

Narada said: Food is truly the very life-breath of human beings; everything stands established upon food. Therefore, O king, the giver of food attains cattle, sons, wealth, and enjoyments as well. In the world, the man who gives food is regarded as a giver of life and as one who gives all.
