योग: क्षेमश्व ते नित्यं ब्राह्मणेष्वस्तु भारत
yogaḥ kṣemaś ca te nityaṁ brāhmaṇeṣv astu bhārata
Bhishma said: “O Bharata, may you always have welfare and security among the Brahmanas.”
भीष्म उवाच
The verse offers a benediction that a ruler’s enduring welfare (yoga) and security (kṣema) depend on maintaining harmonious, respectful relations with Brāhmaṇas—guardians of learning, ritual, and moral counsel in the dharma framework.
In the Anuśāsana Parva, Bhīṣma continues instructing Yudhiṣṭhira on dharma and proper conduct; here he concludes or punctuates a point with a blessing, wishing Yudhiṣṭhira constant prosperity and safety in his dealings with Brāhmaṇas.
