The Pre-eminence of Land-Gift

धर्मस्यार्थस्य कामस्य फलमाहुर्मनीषिण: । तडागसुकृतं देशे क्षेत्रमेक॑ महाश्रयम्
Translation
Bhīṣma said: “The wise declare that, in a land or village, the meritorious building of a single pond yields the fruits of Dharma, Artha, and Kāma. And a place adorned with a pond becomes a great refuge for all living beings.”
