Bhishma said: “Garments of many kinds and forms were procured and duly presented in service. When the Brahmarshi Cyavana could find no flaw or deficiency in any of these acts of attendance, he then addressed King Kuśika again: ‘Harness yourself—together with your wife—to the chariot, and carry me swiftly wherever I command.’”

Educational Q&A

Dharma is shown through careful, faultless service and readiness to obey rightful authority; when service is sincere and complete, the test shifts from material offerings to personal humility and submission of ego.

After many kinds of garments are procured and offered, the sage Cyavana finds no deficiency in the service. He then intensifies the demand by ordering King Kuśika—along with his wife—to be yoked to a chariot and to carry him swiftly wherever he commands.
