Cyavana Explains His Tests; Kuśika Seeks Brāhmaṇya for His Line (च्यवन–कुशिक संवादः)
ततः स राजा च्यवनं मधुपर्क यथाविधि । ग्राहयामास चाव्यग्रो महात्मा नियतव्रत:,इसके बाद नियमतः व्रत पालन करनेवाले महामनस्वी राजा कुशिकने शान्तभावसे च्यवन मुनिको विधिपूर्वक मधुपर्क भोजन कराया
tataḥ sa rājā cyavanaṃ madhuparkaṃ yathāvidhi | grāhayāmāsa cāvyagro mahātmā niyatavrataḥ ||
Bhishma said: Then that king—steadfast in his vows and great-souled—without agitation, had the sage Cyavana partake of the madhuparka in the proper ritual manner. The episode highlights royal dharma expressed as disciplined hospitality and reverent service to a venerable guest.
भीष्म उवाच
Royal dharma is shown through disciplined, rule-abiding hospitality: honoring a worthy guest (especially a sage) with prescribed rites, performed calmly and without negligence.
The king respectfully offers the sage Cyavana the madhuparka and ensures he partakes of it according to proper ritual procedure, demonstrating reverence and self-controlled conduct.
