शप्स्यत्यसंशयं कोपाद्‌ दिव्यज्ञानो महातपा: । “मैं गुरुपत्नीकी रक्षा करनेके लिये अपने सम्पूर्ण अंगोंसे इसके सम्पूर्ण अंगोंमें समा जाऊँगा। यदि आज मेरे गुरुजी अपनी इस पत्नीको किसी पर-पुरुषद्वारा दूषित हुई देख लेंगे तो कुपित होकर मुझे निस्संदेह शाप दे देंगे; क्योंकि वे महा तपस्वी गुरु दिव्यज्ञानसे सम्पन्न हैं

Transliteration

śapsyaty asaṁśayaṁ kopād divyajñāno mahātapāḥ |

Translation

Bhishma said: “Without doubt, in anger that great ascetic—endowed with divine knowledge—will curse me. For I have resolved to protect my teacher’s wife by merging my whole being with hers, so that no other man may violate her. If today my revered teacher were to see his wife defiled by another man, his wrath would certainly fall upon me.”
