Tīrtha-vaṃśa Upadeśa: Instruction on the Fruits of Sacred Waters
विषमव्यवहाराश्नव विषमाश्रैव वृद्धिषु । लाभेषु विषमाश्चैव ते वै निरयगामिन:
viṣama-vyavahārāś caiva viṣamāś caiva vṛddhiṣu | lābheṣu viṣamāś caiva te vai niraya-gāminaḥ ||
Bhishma said: Those whose dealings are not even-handed toward all, and who show partiality in matters of increase and gain—failing to distribute benefits with fairness—are surely destined for hell. This teaching condemns biased conduct in social and economic dealings as a grave breach of dharma.

Impartiality is a key requirement of dharma: one must deal equally with all and distribute gains and increments fairly; deliberate bias in transactions and allocation is treated as a serious moral fault with grave karmic consequences.
In the Anushasana Parva’s instruction on dharma, Bhishma continues advising Yudhishthira on righteous conduct, warning that those who practice partial and unequal dealings—especially regarding profit and growth—incur sin and fall to hell.
